New Delhi: The Supreme Court hearing regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam has been scheduled for July 11, leaving aspirants awaiting clarity on the exam's fate, as reported by news agency PTI. The court hinted at the possibility of ordering a retest only if the irregularities were widespread and affected a significant number of students. Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, leading the bench, expressed initial concerns about the compromised integrity of the examination process.

This NEET controversy has highlighted issues of paper leaks and discrepancies within the examination system. We came up with a list of exams affected this year due to paper leaks or last-minute cancellations:

1. NEET-UG:

In NEET-UG 2024, 67 students scored a perfect 720, an unprecedented occurrence, raising suspicions about irregularities. Allegations suggest that grace marks contributed to the high scores. On July 1, the number of top-ranked candidates was reduced to 61 after a retest for 1,563 candidates. The exam faced allegations of paper leaks, prompting a CBI investigation.

Despite demands for a retest, the Education Ministry opposed it, citing the impact on numerous legitimate candidates. On Monday, the Supreme Court has sought information from the NTA and CBI regarding the timing and duration of the question paper leak.

2. UGC-NET:

The exam was cancelled a day after being conducted due to integrity concerns, with the paper allegedly leaked on the dark web. A CBI investigation is ongoing, and the exam is rescheduled for August 21 to September 4.

3. UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination:

  • Held on February 17 and 18 for over 48 lakh aspirants at 2,385 centers across Uttar Pradesh, aiming to fill 60,244 police positions.

  • Following paper leak allegations, the exam was cancelled and is now under investigation by a Special Task Force (STF). A new date for the exam is yet to be announced.

4. Joint CSIR-UGC-NET:

  • This exam determines eligibility for junior research fellowships, assistant professorships, and PhD admissions in science courses.

  • Initially postponed due to logistical issues, it is now rescheduled for July 25 to 27.

5. NEET-PG:

The exam was cancelled by the Health Ministry a night before its scheduled date as a precautionary measure. It will now take place on August 11 in two shifts.
