In yet another incident of student death in Kota, a NEET aspirant preparing for the medical entrance exam in the country’s coaching hub died in a hospital in the city while undergoing treatment. The deceased student, Shivam Raghav, 21 was a resident of UP’s Aligarh was undergoing treatment for high blood sugar and blood pressure levels. The student was preparing for the NEET entrance exam in Kota for the past three years, and was staying in a hostel room in Landmark City under Kunhari police station in Kota, news agency PTI reported. 


The deceased NEET aspirant was struggling with high blood sugar and blood pressure levels for the past six months, and was rushed to the MBS hospital in the city only after his health started deteriorating, Sub Inspector at Kunhari police station Rajaram was reported saying into the matter. Following his severely deteriorating health condition, Raghav was then shifted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, where he succumbed early Sunday morning, he added.

Following the death of the student, the body was later handed over to the family of the student after post-mortem. The family of the student reached the city after his hospitalization following his poor health. The Police have lodged a case under section 174 of Cr.P.C, for further investigation into the matter. As per the family members of the student, he cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test last year, but was unable to secure a seat in a government medical college. 


Notably, this is the fourth incident of a student’s death in Rajasthan’s Kota, also known as the coaching hub of the country. In a similar incident on Thursday, Parneet Raj Roy (18), a 12th-class student who was a native of Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur died at the MBS Hospital after his health deteriorated in his PG room. Rajiv Ranjan, the father of the deceased student who reached Kota to claim the body after post-mortem, sought an impartial probe to ascertain the reasons behind his son’s death.
