On Thursday, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik dialled the Prime Minster Narendra Modi and requested him to postpone the NEET and JEE exams.

According to a report by the news agency, ANI the official statement said that, “Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik spoke to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi over the telephone this morning and requested him for postponement of NEET and JEE in view of the Covid situation and also as many parts of our state are in the grip of the flood. Several other states have opposed the exams mainly due to the worsening condition of Covid 19 cases. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged all the states to come together and move the Supreme Court for the deferment of this year's NEET and JEE exams, which have now taken the form of a national discourse amid pandemic stricken time.

"This will be my request to all state governments, let us do it together, let us go to Supreme Court & postpone the exam for the time being until and unless the situation allows students to sit for exam (JEE/NEET)," said Banerjee.
