MP Government has taken strict action against unfit nursing colleges. Following the directives of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, 66 nursing colleges in 31 districts are being closed down. Action has already been taken in several districts, including Indore. The Commissioner of Medical Education has provided the collectors with a list and instructed them to take action according to the High Court's orders. This order will not affect the existing students of these nursing colleges and students will still be able to take their exams.
The CBI investigation into the nursing college scam in Madhya Pradesh has revealed that officers were allegedly collecting money from each institution to give favorable inspection reports. On February 22, the CBI submitted a report to the High Court categorising nursing colleges as 'suitable,' 'deficient,' and 'unsuitable.'
According to the list, 132 colleges were rated as 'suitable,' and 37 were deemed 'suitable with minor deficiencies.' In the 'deficient' category, 73 colleges were listed, while 66 colleges were judged 'unsuitable.' Recently, the MP Nursing Council released a list of 132 'suitable' colleges where students can enroll.
