Maharashtra National Law University Nagpur VC Vijender Kumar has been elected as the next president of the Consortium of NLUs for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024. The consortium of NLUs made the announcement following the consortium’s annual governing body meeting.
Kumar will take over the charge of the President of Consortium of NLU’s from the outgoing President and NLU Jodhpur VC Poonam Saxena. At present, tThe Consortium held its annual governing body meeting on January 31, 2023, under the chairmanship of Poonam Saxena.
“At the meeting, the Governing Body elected a new Executive Committee for the Consortium of NLUs, with Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur taking over as President from the Outgoing President Poonam Saxena,” read an official statement in the matter.
During the annual governing body meeting, the other office-bearers of the Consortium of NLUs were also elected. In the meeting, Prof VC Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur was elected as the Vice-President of the Consortium of NLUs for CLAT 2024. Earlier, during CLAT 2023, Professor Vijender Kumar served as the Vice-President of the Consortium.
Moreover, Dr Shanthakumar, Director of the Gujarat National University, Gandhinagar has been appointed as the Convenor of CLAT 2024. Notably, the CLAT is a national-level entrance test for admissions into undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes offered by the National Law Universities.
The CLAT Scores are also accepted by other universities and institutions for admissions into various law programmes. Every year, the CLAT Exam is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs which also governs the scheduling, conduct, and counselling for CLAT Examination.
Established on 19th August 2017, the Consortium of NLUs aims to enhance the overall coordination amongst all the National Law Universities in India to attain the highest standards of legal education in the country.
