The Maharashtra government has decided to take steps to implement the “copy-free exams" campaign which includes shutting photocopy shops in 50-metre radius of the examination centres ahead of the Class 10 and 12 exams.
The Maharashtra Board's Class 10 exams will begin on March 2 and of Class 12 from February 21.
According to a presentation made by officials at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday, the exam centres will be graded according to their 'sensitivity', and the entry of unauthorised people will be banned within 50 metres of an exam centre.
Police presence around the exam centres would also be stepped up.
The education commissioner has been appointed as nodal officer and district collectors as coordinating officers for the campaign.
The cabinet also passed the Maharashtra Medical Purchase Authority Bill. Under this, the governing board will be headed by the chief minister with an Indian Administrative Service officer as its Chief Executive Officer.
The Maharashtra board SSC exams will start with the First Language papers (Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Sindhi, Bengali, Punjabi) and Second or Third Language papers (German, French) on March 2 and end with the Social Sciences Paper-II: Geography on March 25.
The Maharashtra HSC Class 12 exams will begin with English (01) on February 21. On the second day, February 22, Hindi, German, Japanese, Chinese and Persian paper will be conducted. The class 12 exam will get over on March 20 with the Sociology (A/S/C) papers.
The exams will be conducted in two shifts – 11 am to 2 pm in the morning and 3 pm to 6 pm in the evening.
Last year, the Overall percentage, was 96.94 percent in SSC exams. Of the 15.68 lakh students who appeared for the examinations, an overall 15.21 lakh passed across the state.
Meanwhile, in class 12, 94.22 percent of students passed the exam. Of the 14.39 lakh students who appeared for the March-April 2022 examinations, an overall 94.22 percent passed across the state.
