According to reports, the new academic year will begin from April 1, 2021, and that the schools may continue to be partially open for senior classes.
Ever since the nationwide lockdown declared in March this year, schools have been closes across the country. While After almost eight months, some of the states including Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and a few others went ahead to reopen schools in a graded manner in line with the Centre’s guidelines that allowed states a flexible approach in reopening schools for Classes 9 to 12.

But due to the resurgence in Covid-19 cases in many parts of India, states decided to continue to keep schools closed. Furthermore, in some of the states where schools were reopened there were cases of Covid-19 infections among the students and staff. Such as in the case of Haryana where barely two weeks after the schools were reopened for Classes 9 to 12 in November it had to be closed again for 10 days till 30 November, after around 150 students across several government schools tested positive for coronavirus.
Other states such as West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and union territory Delhi have not confirmed any specific date for reopening of schools.
