Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that if voted to power in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, his party will introduce a single-window system for education loans and will also bring a low that will list the rights and duties of students in the country. Gandhi took to social media platform Facebook to announce these special offerings for the students and said that a Congress government will ensure free education to all students from Class 1 to 12 in government schools in the country. Congress will also bring 'Student Rights Law' that will list the rights and duties of students,” Gandhi said in his Facebook post. “We feel that education empowers a child and it should be made available to all children. Congress promises to ensure free and compulsory education to all in government schools from Class 1 to 12. We will raise the budget on education to 6 per cent of GDP,” Congress President wrote in another post. Further luring young voters of the country, Gandhi also announced that the Congress government will waive outstanding interest on old education loans prior to March 31, 2019. “We will also introduce a single-window system for grant of education loans. The banks will not charge any interest on loans till the time the student gets a job and starts earning or becomes self-employed,” he added. Gandhi, in his post, also stated that Congress believes education defines the capability of students and it should be easily available to all the students. Congress party promises that free education will be provided by all schools from Class 1 to 12 for free and education budget will be increased to 6 per cent of the GDP.
