Rajasthan: Sub-Inspector, Trainee Officer Arrested In Paper Leak Case

A total of 15 trainee sub-inspectors and one serving sub-inspector have been arrested so far.

Jaipur: In connection to an investigation concerning the alleged leak of question papers for the recruitment of sub-inspectors in 2021, a sub-inspector and his sister is arrested, who is undergoing training as an officer with the Rajasthan Police, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying. 

Additional Director General of Police and the head of Special Investigation Team V K Singh said Jagdish Siyag, a sub-inspector of 2014 batch, had fixed Varsha as a dummy candidate for his sister Indubala and cousin Bhagwati for the recruitment exam. Siyag, who was posted at Bharatpur SP office, was arrested on Tuesday. His sister Indubala was arrested the same day, the ADG said, adding that Bhagwati was arrested on March 5.

The investigation revealed that Varsha not only took the exam for herself but also appeared as a dummy candidate for Bhagwati and Indubala. Although all three individuals passed the recruitment exam, Varsha chose not to join the police force. However, Bhagwati and Indubala proceeded with their appointments and were undergoing training as sub-inspectors at the Rajasthan Police Academy.

Earlier, fifteen trainee Rajasthan Police sub-inspectors, including the examination topper were detained for allegedly passing the recruitment exam in 2021 through the use of leaked question papers and proxy candidates. Additionally, one sub-inspector was arrested from the Police Training School located in Kishangarh, Ajmer, while two others were detained from their respective villages, the official said.

According to V K Singh, the ADG of the state police's ATS and SOG, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission conducted the Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commander Recruitment exam in 2021.

SIT has also issued a helpline number- 9530429258. Earlier, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma praised the success of the SIT in preventing such leaks, emphasizing the state's commitment to curbing such malpractices.
