Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has dismissed allegations of irregularities in the BPSC Teachers Recruitment Exam 2023. He also accused detractors of acting as per ‘instructions received from above’. Notably, around one lakh newly recruited teachers in Bihar are slated to receive their appointment letters on Thursday. The newly recruited teachers will be receiving their appointment letters from the chief minister himself at a grand ceremony.
"Tomorrow is a big day. Those who are finding faults never had any problems till they were with me. Now they are picking holes upon instructions from above," Nitish Kumar was reported as saying to reporters by news agency PTI. Notably, following the BPSC TRE (Teachers Recruitment Exam) Result announcement recently, some candidates and leaders of opposition in Bihar have been allegeing of irregularities in the teachers recruitment.
The remarks from the Bihar Chief Minister came in response to queries about the BJP, from which he sidelined himself last year, and Jitan Ram Manjhi, with whom he burnt bridges earlier this year, claimed the recruitment of 1.2 lakh teachers in the state as a ‘Scam.’ The opposition parties in the Bihar assembly have been continuously alleging exchange of money in the selection process. The opposition leaders have further claimed that contractual teachers have been shown as fresh recruits to pronounce the figures, which the Mahagathbandhan government was using, boasting of job creation.
Speaking to journalists at the launch function of various power projects worth nearly Rs 14,000 crore, Nitish Kumar also expressed disappointment over ‘less than favourable’ coverage of his government by the press. He complained it was the central government that has been credited for many of his accomplishments. During his interaction with journalists, he further stressed that he was "not at all angry with the press but unhappy over its muzzling".
