The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police has detained more than 270 candidates in Jharkhanad’s Hazaribagh in connection with the alleged paper leak case in the Bihar Teachers Recruitment Exam (BPSC TRE-3). The EOU officials conducted raids in Hazaribagh after receiving some tip-offs, an official statement was reported as saying by news agency PTI. In its operation, the EOU team found out that several BPSC TRE-3 aspirants brought from several places in Bihar were supplied question papers before the exam.
“On the day of the examination, March 15, candidates were supposed to leave at around 3 am for their respective exam centres. They all were detained and on the basis of their interrogation, officials managed to nab certain members of the gang involved in the paper leak,” the statement was reported as saying.
Earlier, the police had already arrested five people in connection with the case who allegedly planned and executed the BPSC TRE paper leak. In its action, the police also recovered question papers, computers, laptops, printers and pen drives from their possession.
As per the official statement, further investigations by the police revealed that the culprits involved in the BPSC Paper Leak also charged a heavy sum from aspirants for providing the answer sheets of the exam. In the meantime, further investigation to dive deeper into the paper leak case is underway.
Notably, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducted the BPSC Teachers recruitment Exam (TRE-3) on March 15, 2024. Aimed at shortlisting suitable candidates for recruitment as Middle School Teachers in various state government schools across Bihar, the exam was held in the online mode at designated exam centres across the state. Previously, as many as 96,823 candidates cleared the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE-2) conducted by the BPSC.
