The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will start the application process for headmaster and head teacher positions on March 11, 2024. Alongside the recruitment notification, BPSC has released the syllabus for both roles. The commission aims to fill 6,061 headmaster positions and appoint 40,247 head teachers in primary schools under the Bihar Education Department through this recruitment drive. The recruitment for headmaster roles will encompass both the Bihar Education Department and the SC and ST Welfare Department. According to the schedule provided, the deadline to submit applications for BPSC headmaster and teacher positions at bpsc.bih.nic.in is April 2, 2024.

BPSC Principal Recruitment: Eligibility

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has indicated that the number of advertised vacancies may vary. The basic salary for the position will be Rs 35,000, along with permissible allowances provided by the state government.

Applicants must be Indian citizens and residents of Bihar. They should hold a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised university. A relaxation of five percent in the minimum passing marks is applicable for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Extremely Backward Classes, Backward Classes, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), women, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

Candidates working in schools affiliated with different boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), The Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE), or the Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) are exempt from the requirement of passing the teacher eligibility test.

Degrees such as the Fazil degree from Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Patna, Bihar State Madrasa Education Board, and the Acharya degree from Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University will be considered equivalent to a postgraduate degree.

BPSC Head Teacher Recruitment: Eligibility

All trained elementary teachers, as defined in Rule 2 (ix) of Bihar Primary School Head Teacher Rules, 2024, who are employed by local bodies and covered by the corresponding Local Body Teacher Rules, 2020, are eligible to apply. This includes teachers appointed under the Bihar State School Teacher (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action, and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023, and Bihar School Special Teacher Rules, 2023.

Applicants must have a minimum of 8 years of teaching experience in government primary schools and should be 58 years of age or younger as of August 1, 2024, to be considered for the position.
