UP 69,000 Teacher Recruitment: The protest was called for immediate compliance with the High Court’s orders, alongside demands for the prompt issuance of a new list for appointments.

On Monday, protesters in Lucknow gathered outside the residence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to demand action on the long-pending 69,000 teacher recruitment case. The protesters voiced their frustration by raising slogans against Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Despite efforts by the police to disperse the crowd, the demonstrators remained resolute, leading to several detentions. The protesters, who have been agitating for four years, expressed their discontent, stating, "We have been fighting for our demands for years, but the government continues to ignore us. We demand immediate fulfillment of all our requests."

The protest was primarily driven by calls for immediate compliance with the High Court’s orders, alongside demands for the prompt issuance of a new list for appointments.

The protest took a tragic turn when one of the candidates, Mohammed Irshad, suffered a heart attack. His fellow protesters rushed him to the emergency department at Civil Hospital, where doctors provided initial treatment. Unfortunately, as his condition did not improve, Irshad was transferred to Wellness Hospital for further care.

Recently, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court cancelled the merit list of the teachers' recruitment. The court also ordered that a new merit list be issued within three months.

Earlier, Commenting on the court’s decision, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said, "The 69,000 teacher recruitment process has ultimately been proven to be a victim of BJP's scams, corruption, and fraud. Our demand is that a new, fair list be prepared, enabling transparent and impartial appointments, so that the education system disrupted during the BJP's tenure can get back on track. We will keep a close watch on the new list and ensure that no candidate is wronged or treated unjustly."
