Kota: A 31-year-old man, eager to secure a government job, engaged in a long-term scheme of forgery and deception to circumvent the age restrictions for the state's constable recruitment exam, as reported by news agency PTI. He forged his birth certificate and Aadhaar card, reappeared for the 10th board exam in 2021, waited two years, and subsequently cleared the 12th class boards. He passed the Rajasthan Constable Recruitment Exam-2023 and advanced through nearly all stages of the selection process.
However, during the final round of document verification and health examination held on Tuesday, Hansraj Singh, who attempted to pass as 22, was apprehended, and his intricate ruse unraveled.
Singh, a resident of Neem Ka Thana district, was arrested and charged with cheating and forgery under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as stated by Baran Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Chaudhary on Wednesday. During questioning, Singh allegedly admitted to lowering his age by nine years in his documents to qualify for the exam. He reportedly used the forged papers to pass the 10th and 12th board exams in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
Candidates between 18 and 24 years old can sit for the state's constable recruitment exam, with a five-year relaxation for OBC candidates. Born on November 25, 1993, Singh allegedly created a fraudulent certificate stating his birth date as November 25, 2002.
Baran Police had received a tip-off from the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Jaipur regarding Singh, who is also under investigation for involvement in recruitment scams linked to paper leaks in the state.

A search of Singh's clothing and bag uncovered both his original and forged documents, along with a Delhi Police recruitment application form, an Ordnance Factory recruitment exam form, and a 10th class mark sheet from 2009—all displaying his true birth date. The SP indicated that the investigation would also look into others involved in the forgery and whether Singh had appeared in other exams using false documents.
