New Delhi: The coronavirus pandemic had created a lot of problems for students and uncertainty over exams last year. While there were speculations that exams will be cancelled due to the pandemic, competitive exams such as JEE and NEET following strict Covid-19 protocols.


Last month the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank gave more clarity about the exams in 2021. Here's a look at the dates for the upcoming exams.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main): The schedule for the exams was announced by the Education Minister last month. This year the JEE Main exams will be held in multiple shifts— February, March, April, and May. Candidates will be allowed to attempt all four times if they wish, with the best score being used. Pokhriyal said that pattern of the exam has also been changed to accommodate COVID-19-driven changes to the syllabus. According to the official notification dating 16 December 2020, the exams will be held on the following dates.

First session: 23,24,25 & 26 February 2021

Second session: 15,16,17,& 18 March 2021

Third session: 27,28,29 & 30 April 2021

Fourth Session: 24,25,26 27 & 28 May 2021

For BE/ B.Tech (Paper 1) and B. Arch (Paper 2 A)the exams will be held in two shifts- 9 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM. While B. Planning (Paper 2 B) will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM.

CBSE Boards: The Union Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced the date of commencement for Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE board exams 2021he Class 10 and 12 exams will begin from May 4, 2021 and they are scheduled to be concluded by June 10, 2021. Schools have been allowed to conduct practicals for both classes from March 1, 2021, till the last date for conducting theory exams. The results are tentatively planned to be announced by July 15, 2021.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET):  The dates for the NEET exams are yet to be out. During a webinar, Pokhriyal has said that there are no plans to cancel NEET. He also said that NEET will be held offline due to the requirement of the exams. The information will be updated on NTA NEET website - ntaneet.nic.in . The NTA usually conducts the examination on the first Sunday of May. But so far there is no clarity on the dates by the testing agency.
