After the announcement of the CBSE and CISCE result criteria and result dates, the next big question in front of class 12 students is how the admission process will work in colleges. In fact, the cancellation of the board examinations by CBSE, CISCE, and several state boards has created uncertainty among students regarding the college admission process.


Students are unsure about how the admission process will work in colleges this year.  Here's what top institutes under the NIRF are planning in terms of the admission process.
 
Delhi University
Delhi University (DU) is likely to start the registration process for admission to undergraduate courses from 15th July, the university's acting vice-chancellor PC Joshi said. The admission will be on the basis of merit or class 12 marks.  However, due to the delay in the declaration of CBSE results, DU officials are considering a new method for admission. According to media reports, after the announcement of the new evaluation system by CBSE, the admission committee will hold a meeting this week to discuss the admission process.


Jamia Millia Islamia
Jamia conducts an entrance test for admission to all its courses on the basis of merit or grade 12 marks. However, the date of the entrance exam has not been announced yet. But the online application process is currently on and will continue till 30th June.  The last date for submission of the class 12 marksheet is 30th September.


Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
IITs offer courses leading to bachelor's degrees in various engineering fields. Admission to undergraduate programs for all Indian and foreign nationals in these institutes is done through JEE Advanced. However, students who wish to apply for JEE Advanced will also have to appear for JEE Main as only those candidates who secure the top 2,50,000 ranks in JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced. This year, the JEE Main exam dates are expected to be announced by the end of June


Banaras Hindu University
BHU asks for JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores for admission to its B.Tech. and B.Pharm. For B.Sc. Nursing, B.A., B.Com., and B.Sc. courses, the admission is based on your entrance exam score. The exam is called the Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test (BHU UET). The dates for this test are yet to be announced.


Savitribai Phule Pune University
Savitribai Phule Pune University offers UG Level B.A., B.Sc., B.Sc. (Applied), B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Com., B.Tech., B.Arch., L.L.B., B.LI.Sc., B.B.M., B.Pharm., and B.H.M. courses.  The selection of candidates for admission in these courses is done on the basis of merit along with the entrance test conducted by the university. No change in the plan has been announced yet.


Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh Muslim University selects candidates for B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. on the basis of marks obtained in the class 12 examination.  For admission to B.E., B.Tech., and B.Arch., the entrance exam AMUEEE is conducted in addition to considering the class 12 scores.


Anna University
Merit and entrance based admissions are given in Anna University. The application form is expected to be available by August.


Mumbai University
Maharashtra University has not yet shared how it will enroll students. MU had said that the admission criteria would be announced after the declaration of HSC results. The FYJC admission criteria have also not been shared yet. 


Apart from these universities, admission to UG courses in Mahatma Gandhi University, Madras University, and the University of Kerala and their various affiliated colleges will be based on merit. Hence, students will have to wait for their class 12 results.
