The Guru Gobind SIngh Indraprastha University Delhi, has decided to provide a ‘one-time-opportunity’ for its students who couldn't complete their degrees over the past 25 years. The university will be providing this opportunity to its former students as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Vice-Chancellor said on Wednesday. In a press conference held by the university, Vice Chancellor Mahesh Verma also shared insights on various programmes that will be held from October 5-10 as part of the university’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
The university will also honour 25 research scholars working in the field of healthcare, the vice-chancellor told PTI. He further said that the silver jubilee celebrations which began in December last year, the varsity has not only been emphasising on academic endeavours, but also recognising excellence in healthcare.
As part of the university's ongoing silver jubilee celebrations, ''we will be offering a one-time chance to students who, for various reasons, couldn't complete their degrees over the past 25 years,'' Verma told PTI.

He further stressed that the university’s latest initiative showcases its commitment to foster educational pursuits and opportunities for academic achievements. In a similar move, the University of Delhi, which turned 100 in 2022, also offered a ‘centenary; chance to its students to complete their degrees.
The university will also be holding a ‘health mela' at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium starting today, where people from and around Delhi would be able to come for free health check-ups, medical tests, and attend talks by health experts. The Ministry of Ayush, Central Health Education Bureau, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, Maulana Azad Institute Of Dental Sciences and other healthcare organisations will be participating in the event alongside affiliated institutes of the University, the vice-chancellor was reported as saying.
Besides, people and visitors at the ‘Silver Jubilee Health Mela' would be welcomed by a vibrant atmosphere with several daily activities, including singing, music, dance, plays, quizzes, debates, and stand-up comedy, he said.
