DU News: Delhi University is one of the most prestigious universities in the country. The increasing pressure on the university and a war-like situation over limited seats is seen every year when the cut-off is released. Students try hard to get admission to DU colleges. More and more students will be able to take admission here in the coming years as DU plans to start two new colleges soon. The discussion regarding the names of these colleges has begun. These centres and colleges can be named after Sushma Swaraj, Swami Vivekananda, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Sardar Patel, Dalit leader Jyotiba Bai Phule or Arun Jaitley. However, no name has been finalized yet.

 

The Academic Council has approved the new institutions in a meeting held on Wednesday. The land has been allotted to the university to set up centers at Najafgarh and Fatehpur Beri. According to the agenda of the meeting, these centers and colleges can be named after Sushma Swaraj, Swami Vivekananda, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Sardar Patel, Dalit leader Jyotiba Bai Phule or Jaitley. These centres will be set up to provide admission and examination facilities to university students in these areas.

 

The framework for four years undergraduate courses and NEP was also passed  

 

In a meeting held on Monday, the Standing Committee on Academic Affairs also passed a framework for a four-year undergraduate course from 2022 and national education policy (NEP). The committee consisted of 42 members, 3 of whom disagreed with the implementation of the NEP. At the same time, a discussion on naming the DU college that will be ready in Bhati Kalan village near Mehrauli, after the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi Sushma Swaraj is also going on. 40 bighas of land have been given by the Delhi government and have been sanctioned by the district administration. The proposed college has also received the support of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

 

The college's sprawling campus will have a residential facility for staff and teachers, a hostel facility for students, and a sports campus. Also, the proposed college will provide good education to the rural population of Delhi and Gurgaon on a large scale. Du is also preparing to open two facility centers at Najafgarh and South Delhi.
