Delhi Schools Reopening: Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided that the schools in Delhi will re-open in a phased manner. Classes for std 9th to 12th students will begin from September 1, 2021, onwards. While, classes for std 6th to 8th will begin from September 8, 2021, onwards. The decision has been taken during a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday, August 27, 2021.
Previously, an Expert Committee formed by the Delhi Government in its report had recommended the reopening of schools in a phased manner. In addition, the report also stated to reopen schools for only senior classes in the first phase. This should then be followed by middle school and then primary school at the end. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority had set up an expert committee on safely reopening schools in Delhi.
Recently, the Gujarat government has announced that the schools for classes 6 to 8 will reopen from September 2, 2021, onwards. The government has also directed the schools to conduct classes with 50% capacity.
However, in wake of the threat of the third wave of the Covid-19, the Himachal Pradesh government had decided to shut down schools till September 4. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in Shimla on Tuesday. Earlier orders were issued to keep schools closed till August 28.
