Delhi Education Minister ‘Atishi’ has said that the Delhi Government and the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) will be working together with the MCD (Municipal Corporation Delhi) to implement ‘Mission Buniyaad’ in Delhi Schools this year. The Delhi Education minister and city mayor Shelly Oberoi also interacted with over 2,700 government school principals in the national capital for ‘Mission Buniyad,’ for the new academic session.

“Mission Buniyaad aims to strengthen the foundation of every child sitting in the classroom -- to prepare future engineers, doctors, and CEOs for the country. Our government is committed to provide every child with quality education and opportunities,” Atishi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Every child should have access to good education and equal opportunities, as dreamt by Dr BR Ambedkar 75 years ago, she said further. “The children studying in Delhi's government schools are the future of the country, their foundational learning can be strengthened only through joint efforts of MCD and DoE,” Atishi was further reported as saying.

Praising the education system of the national capital, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi said that following on the Delhi Government’s effective education model, the MCD will bring a similarly effective education model in its schools as well. “The contribution of students to nation-building is substantial and, therefore, it is necessary to develop an education model that fosters their overall development. The training of teachers plays a critical role in this regard, and to that end, the MCD will also send teachers abroad for training, similar to the Kejriwal government,” she said.

Notably, the ‘Mission Buniyad’ emphasizes summer camps, special classes and mega PTM, in the upcoming academic session. As per the Department of Education, various new techniques and approaches are to be roped in for the upcoming session to enhance the foundational learning levels in DoE and MCD schools and bridge the learning gap for all children from grades 3 to 8. As part of the new approaches and methodologies, there would be a greater emphasis on learning activities that brush the fluency of reading, writing, and comprehension skills of students.
