New Delhi: Ministry of Human Resource Development has thanked educational institutions for their contribution to the fight against Covid-19 in India.


The Ministry took to Twitter to reveal that more than 600 higher educational institutions have been converted into a Covid-19 isolation and quarantine centres.


"Institutes across the nation are being converted into isolation/quarantine centres. We thank these institutions for coming forward to join us in the fight against Covid-19," - the ministry stated.





The institutes to be converted as Covid-19 quarantine centers include St Xavier's college in south Mumbai, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong), Kendriya Vidyalaya hostels and hostels in Assam University, Cotton University, and Gauhati University.


On Wednesday, India crossed the 1 lakh 50 thousand-mark in the total number of coronavirus cases.  As Lockdown 4.0 is nearing its end on May 31, speculations about Lockdown 5.0 have been doing the round on social media.


Ministry of Home Affairs had urged people to stay away from spreading unverified claims regarding the fifth phase of nationwide lockdown and revealed that the final decision regarding it is yet to be reached.
