New Delhi: In the wake of coronavirus scare, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced that students appearing for Class 10 and 12 board examination will be allowed to carry masks and hand sanitiser in the exam centre. “Face masks and sanitisers may be carried by students in the examination centre,” CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi said.

CBSE also took to Twitter and announced that after many parents and students asked the board if the pupils can wear masks and take sanitizers inside the exam halls, the examination board decided to issue an official notification.

In India, the number of coronavirus cases rose to 28 on Wednesday, up from six a day earlier. Suspecting the emergence of cluster cases of the virus, the government has stepped up the level of preparedness against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, five schools have closed as a precautionary measure against coronavirus. Various schools in south Delhi and neighbouring areas have also advised their students to take precautions and carry a sanitiser with them along with masks. Parents also have started to tell their wards to use masks every time they get out of the house.

Till now globally, a total of 90,893 cases of COVID-19 infections and 3,110 deaths, mostly in China, have been reported. In India, at least 25 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India till Wednesday.
