Nearly 2.5 lakh students appear for the ICSE and ISC examinations. This year, the examinations started around their usual time in February. However, the papers were disrupted when the schools and colleges were shut down due to corona outbreak in the country. The council in turn had postponed and then cancelled the remaining examinations.
Marking scheme:
CISCE has released revised formulae for awarding the marks of the cancelled papers. The formulae is weighted average method which would use the average of best of three subjects as well as the internal marks scored by the students.
Passing criteria remains the same for the CISCE board results this year at 33% for ICSE Class 10 and 35% for ISC Class 12 examinations. The pass mark criteria were revised from 35 and 40% respectively from 2018 board examinations.
CISCE may conduct the remaining board exams at a later date and allow the students to appear for the papers, in case they are not satisfied with the marks awarded to them. If the option would be available to both ICSE and ISC students or only ISC students (like CBSE’s rule), is not clear at present. The board would be sharing that decision on the official website cisce.org soon.
