CBSE Class 12 Evaluation Criterion 2021: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday placed the class 12 evaluation criterion 2021 before the Supreme Court (SC). Under the class 12 evaluation criterion 2021, the results of the class 12 board examination 2021 will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the students in class 10th, 11th, and 12th examination. Speaking on the formula released for evaluation of class 12 students, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that the decision to cancel the board exams was correct as it was made while keeping the safety of 1.5 crore class 12 students in mind. The suggestions of the Delhi government to the CBSE board were kept in mind while drafting the class 12 evaluation criterion 2021.
In a statement issued by Manish Sisodia, it was said that the Center should have considered canceling the board examinations long ago instead of waiting for the intervention of the Supreme Court in this matter.
Had the central government taken a humane approach and listened to the students' arguments before, the intervention of the Supreme Court would not have been required. Still, I am happy that finally the decision to cancel class 12 board examinations was taken in the interest of our students, the statement further added.
Emphasizing the need to adopt similar or better evaluation criteria in the academic session 2021-22, Manish Sisodia said, "Even in adverse circumstances arisen due to the covid-19 pandemic, we have made detailed evaluation criteria for this year's board examinations. We need to think from now on to develop a benchmark for classes 10 and 12 for the 2021-22 session as well so that the chaos that happened this year can be avoided. If schools are to be partially opened, we should start developing a plan keeping in mind the online examinations, along with the modalities for conducting assessments and projects. We have to accept the reality of the pandemic and understand that it can persist for a long time. Therefore, we have to take wise decisions for the better interest of our students."
Manish Sisodia said that CBSE should issue the class 12th mark sheet by the end of July so that students do not face any problem in seeking admission to colleges. He further said that the central government should also make a decision for those students who want to give the 10th-12th board examinations soon.
