CBSE Inspections Reveal Irregularities In 27 Schools, Dummy Enrolments Exceeding Actual Attendance

CBSE conducted surprise inspections in 27 affiliated schools across Rajasthan and the NCT of Delhi, revealing massive irregularities.

CBSE Board News: In a major crackdown, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections on Tuesday in 27 schools across Rajasthan and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. These inspections revealed widespread violations of the Board's Affiliation Bye-Laws, uncovering serious irregularities that threaten the integrity of the education system.

The inspections aimed to assess whether schools were adhering to the Board's prescribed norms and regulations. 

"Majority of the inspected schools were found to have violated the Board's Affiliation Bye-Laws by  enrolling students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively creating "dummy" enrolments.  Additionally, schools were found to be flouting infrastructural norms of the Board," the Board Secretary Himanshu Gupta said.

In addition to the enrolment violations, several schools were found to be disregarding infrastructural guidelines mandated by the CBSE. These lapses have raised red flags about the quality of education and safety provided to students in these institutions.

Reacting to the findings, the CBSE has begun issuing show-cause notices to the schools found in violation of its regulations. Legal action is also being considered for schools guilty of non-compliance.

The Board said that it will continue to monitor schools closely and take strong action against any institution failing to adhere to the guidelines.

Notably, Many students preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams frequently opt to enroll in dummy schools, enabling them to focus solely on their exam preparations without attending regular classes, only showing up for board exams.

Aspirants often choose these dummy schools strategically, taking into account state-specific quotas available in medical and engineering institutes. For example, students who complete Classes 11 and 12 in Delhi become eligible for the Delhi State Quota, which grants them preference in admissions to medical colleges in the capital.
