Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar distributed appointment letters to newly recruited teachers in the state today, November 2, 2023. The ceremony to distribute appointment letters was organised in the Gandhi Maidan of the state capital Patna. Similar events were also organised in various parts of the state, and district headquarters, while the events were connected together via video conferencing. Notably, in a massive recruitment drive, the Bihar Public Service Commission has shortlisted over one lakh candidates through the recently conducted BPSC TRE (Teachers Recruitment Exam) 2023, for appointment as school teachers at various levels in schools across the state.
The BPSC conducted the Bihar Teachers Recruitment Exam 2023 on August 24, 25, and 26, in the offline mode. The exam was conducted at designated exam centres across the state. Earlier this month, the BPSC released the results of the BPSC TRE 2023 for Classes 1-5, 9-10, and 11-12. The recruitment results were released in a timely manner for different levels and subjects. The first BPSC TRE Result 2023 was released on October 17, 2023, for the ‘Hindi Subject,’ for Class-12. Following the Bihar Teachers Result Announcement 2023, the BPSC on October 27, also opened the portal for candidates to view their BPSC TRE Marks on the official website through candidate login.
With the recruitment of Bihar teachers on such a large scale, soon after the announcement of the BPSC TRE Results 2023, some candidates and leaders of the opposition alleged irregularities in the recruitment process. The opposition members in the Bihar assembly have alleged exchange of money in the recruitment. Further claims have also been made that contractual teachers have been shown as fresh recruits to pronounce the figures, which the Mahagathbandhan government was using, boasting of job creation.
Following the allegations from the opposition though, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dismissed allegations of irregularities in the BPSC Teachers Recruitment Exam 2023 on Wednesday. While speaking to journalists, Nitish Kumar accused detractors of acting as per ‘instructions received from above’. "Tomorrow is a big day. Those who are finding faults never had any problems till they were with me. Now they are picking holes upon instructions from above," Nitish Kumar was reported as saying to reporters by news agency PTI.
