The circular, approved by the IIT Senate, stated that "we can not lead a choiceless life. Everyday, every moment, every second, there is a choice. It it were not so, we would not be individuals."
Further in the notice, IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao said, "The graduating batch (students who have less than a semester of graduation requirements left) can decide on an ‘Early Graduation’ option, (which will be end of June) or go through a ‘regular graduation process’ (as and when we are allowed to reconvene) and follow a regular schedule for graduation."
This comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday announced lockdown exit plan which provides relaxations to various restrictions in phased manner. As per the new guidelines, all schools, colleges, educational institutes and training centres will continue to remain shut at least till June.
Following the directives, IIT said that though the campus is expected to open from July 2, these dates can change depending on how the COVID situation evolves.
"Since there may be some delays in this, the time-bound early graduation plan is being offered. Students are not forced to take it, but will have the flexibility if they choose to exercise this option,” he added," the notice added.
