ABVP Calls For CBI Probe Into NEET UG Result 2024: 'Protest Will Go On Until Demand Is Met'

Director General of National Testing Agency has said a four-member high-powered committee has been appointed to investigate allegations surrounding NEET UG 2024 results.

NEET UG Controversy: Amid allegations of irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 results, hundreds of students gathered in Surat to protest against the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam. The announcement of the NEET UG 2024 results has raised a lot of concerns among students and parents, leading to protests across India.

There have been allegations of mistakes in the results, and that the process was unfair.

Students protesting carried signs and shouted slogans, demanding a "fair review" of the exam process. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS, has requested a CBI probe into the NEET UG 2024 exam, claiming major issues in how it was conducted and evaluated. 

The ABVP has promised to keep protesting until their demand for a CBI investigation is met. They are calling on the authorities to act quickly to "fix the exam system".

On Saturday, during a press conference, the Director General of the National Testing Agency stated that a four-member high-powered committee had been appointed to investigate the matter, which is centred on grace marks awarded to over 1,500 students across six centers. The grace marks, the NTA said, were given to compensate for lost time after the exam didn't start on schedule at certain centres.

He said whatever steps are taken next, including the possibility of holding another exam, will be decided based on what the committee suggests.

The NEET UG 2024 results, released on June 4, triggered an uproar after 67 students achieved the top rank with a perfect score: Six of them from the same exam centre in Haryana. A few students scored 718 and 719 out of 720, which students said was impossible given the nature of the exam. After the results were announced, many students questioned the number of top scorers and the grace marks given, while also alleging a possible paper leak. The NTA has denied allegations of a leak, saying the paper this year was relatively easier.
