On Monday morning, a leopard entered into a house and assaulted three individuals in the Jagatpur village, located in Delhi's Wazirabad area, the police stated, news agency ANI reported. The incident occurred around 6:14 am near Aadarsh Nagar Gali Number 3, Jagatpur village.
Following the incident, the police along with the forest officials have arrived at the spot and rescue efforts are underway, they stated.
Assisted by locals, authorities successfully locked the leopard in a room. The wounded individuals were promptly transported to a hospital, confirmed Delhi Fire Service chief Atul Garg, news agency PTI reported.
"At 6:14am, we received a phone call at PS Wazirabad saying a leopard had entered near Aadarsh Nagar Gali Number 3, Jagatpur village. The people who were attacked are identified as residents of Jagatpur village. Currently, the Forest Team, Fire Department and local police are deployed at the spot. The leopard has been contained in a room," the Delhi police stated.
Leopard Found Dead At Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve In Tamil Nadu
On the other hand, officials discovered the lifeless body of a five-year-old male leopard at the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in Tamil Nadu. Upon receiving reports of a leopard found dead in the Gumdapuram forest area near Thalavadi within the STR boundaries, forest officials, accompanied by a veterinary doctor, promptly responded to the scene on Sunday evening.
After examining the animal, the veterinary doctor confirmed it was a five-year-old male leopard, stating that the cause of death would be determined following an autopsy.
