Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State (MoS) Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar took part in a 'Walkathon' on Friday starting from Vijay Chowk to Nirman Bhawan in Delhi on the occasion of World Health Day. Hundreds of people participated in the walkathon while carrying the national flag and posters with slogans written on them.


News agency ANI posted a video from the site showcasing the crowd that was gathered to spread awareness on the topic.






The Union Health Minister while talking to reporters said, "On the occasion of World Health Day, I extend my wishes to all the people. The health sector is changing and India is playing its role under the PM's guidance. On this day, I would like to appeal to all doctors, students, and medical practitioners to keep playing their role in the development of the health sector."






Later in the day, Health Minister Dr. Mandaviya along with Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar also held a review meeting with health ministers of States & UTs in the wake of the sudden rise in Covid cases. 


India has recorded 6,050 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Friday. The fresh tally of infections is 13 per cent higher than Thursday, which stood at 5,300 cases. The active case tally now stands at 28,303.
