As the Yamuna water recedes from the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged people to avoid taking selfies and playing in the floodwaters. Kejriwal took to Twitter and said that the water level in Yamuna is decreasing gradually and If there is no heavy rain again, the situation will become normal soon.
"There are reports from many places that some people are going to play or swim in the water or are going for video/selfie. Please don't do this. This can be fatal. The danger of flood is not over yet. The velocity of water is very fast. Water can rise anytime," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi.
"The water level in Yamuna is decreasing gradually. If there is no heavy rain again, the situation will become normal soon. Started withdrawing water from Chandrawal and Wazirabad water treatment plants. After this the machines will dry. Both the plants will be operational only by tomorrow," Kejriwal said in another tweet.
Meanwhile, various routes have been opened for commuters. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the Road from Shantivan to Geeta colony both carriageways have been opened only for Cars, autos, and light vehicles. However, the road from Shanti Van to Rajghat and towards ISBT is still closed.
The movement of traffic, which was closed due to the flood situation has been opened on Boulevard Road to slip road, below Yudhisthir Setu and Mahatma Gandhi Marg. Both carriageways from Chandgiram Akhara to IP College have also been opened.
Earlier in the day, Delhi PWD Minister Atishi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Haryana government for releasing a massive amount of water from the Hathnikund barrage towards the national capital. While talking to news agency ANI, she said that all the water from Hathnikund Barrage was being released only for Delhi and not a single drop of water was released into the canals going to UP and Haryana from there. She further added that Haryana will have to answer for this.
She further said, "Everyone knows that the flooding occurred due to the water that was released from Haryana because not a single drop of rain fell in Delhi for the past four days. So the water that has flooded the houses and streets of Delhi is only and only of Haryana.... If water was only released in Delhi then it means that the flooding in Delhi could have been clearly avoided.
