As the Yamuna continues to overflow, the flood situation remained grim in parts of the national capital on Saturday. The water level in the river was recorded at 207.98 meters at 11 pm last night. The nearby areas and key roads remain affected due to waterlogging. As the Yamuna water level recedes slowly, roads at ITO and Shanti Van remain waterlogged causing problems for commuters.

“We are facing a lot of difficulties to commute, it has been a week now,” a commuter was quoted by PTI.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' alert for moderate rain and thundershowers on Saturday in Delhi, parts of which continue to reel from a flood-like situation.

The flood situation is also grim in Delhi's Yamuna Bazaar area.

The water from the overflowing Yamuna entered Delhi's Civil Lines area, due to which cars submerged and buildings flooded on Bela Road.

Floodwater from the overflowing Yamuna reached the entrance of the Supreme Court in central Delhi after a regulator of the Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Department at Indraprastha was damaged late on Thursday. After breaching a 45-year record, the water level in the Yamuna came down to 208.25 metres at 3 PM on Friday even as several key areas in the city remained inundated, reported PTI.

Embankment At Indraprastha Regulator Sealed To Prevent Floodwater From Entering Delhi, Says L-G Saxena

The Army has sealed the breached embankment at the Indraprastha regulator to prevent floodwater from entering Delhi, the Lt. Governor's Office said on Friday. The breach was sealed by Army personnel and workers, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's Office said in a midnight tweet.

"My heartfelt gratitude to our ordinary workmen, jawans, and officers of the Indian Army for their untiring efforts in sealing the bund breach on the Yamuna, opposite the WHO building, and opening the gates at the ITO barrage in Delhi," Saxena said in the tweet.

It was due to their tireless effort that the embankment near the WHO Building could be sealed and the silt-jammed gate at the ITO barrage opened, Saxena said. "Pray to God that there should be continuous improvement in the flood situation," he said in another tweet in Hindi.
