Sahil, accused of the 16-year-old girl murder case in Delhi, arrested on Monday. The police arrested him from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr city.

Earlier, a 16-year-old minor girl was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area. The 20-year-old accused, identified as Sahil, stabbed her at least 20 times before hitting her on her head with a stone.

As per police reports, Sahil and Sakshi, who were romantically involved, engaged in an argument on Sunday that ultimately resulted in Sakshi's death. The perpetrator assaulted her as she was en route to celebrate her friend's son's birthday.

The ghastly occurrence was recorded by the closed-circuit television camera.

According to Indian Express, a police informant spotted the girl's body and promptly notified the authorities, who dispatched a PCR vehicle.

Speaking with ANI, a police officer stated: "Sahil and the deceased were in a relationship but yesterday they had a quarrel. The deceased was planning to attend her friend's son's birthday when the accused intercepted her, stabbed her multiple times & hit her with a stone. Accused is absconding and search for him is underway. FIR registered u/s 302 IPC at PS Shahbad Dairy."

Reacting against the ghastly attack on a minor, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: “A minor girl is brutally murdered openly in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. The criminals have become fearless, there is no fear of the police. L-G sir, law and order is your responsibility, do something. The safety of the people of Delhi is of paramount importance.”

Calling the attack as an "unfortunate incident," BJP MP from North-West Delhi Hans Raj Hans stated: "This is an unfortunate incident. Earlier there have been same cases in my constituency. I am in touch with Police and the family members of the victim. Youth often get caught up in emotions," ANI reported.

According to Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), the safety of women in the capital has significantly deteriorated. Her statement came after the heinous killing of a 16-year-old girl by her male acquaintance outside her residence in the Shahbad area of Delhi.

"A 16-year-old girl was stabbed 40-50 times and then was hit by a stone multiple times after which she died. All this has been captured on CCTV. Several people saw this but did not pay heed. Delhi has become extremely unsafe for women and girls. I appeal to the central govt to call a high-level meeting with Union HM, Delhi LG, DCW chief and Delhi CM," she stated.
