Delhi Police said on Saturday (June 3) that the accused in a 16-year-old girl murder case had been sent to judicial custody. Sahil Khan, a twenty-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his sixteen-year-old girlfriend and assaulting her with a concrete slab, was distressed by the minor's intention to end their relationship, as per media reports.

Khan appeared in Rohini court on Tuesday after being arrested in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday evening and transported to Delhi.

According to Indian Express, citing sources within the Delhi Police, the accused and the deceased had a strained and troubled relationship. "It has been determined that Sahil was irritated with the minor because she was ignoring his calls and wanted to end the relationship. This infuriated him, and he threatened to kill her. He kept pressuring her to continue the relationship, but she refused," an officer said.

The murder weapon was discovered on June 2, according to the Delhi Police. According to senior officers, the accused allegedly committed the crime between 8:45 and 9:00 pm before fleeing to the Rithala area and discarding the weapon.

An initial medical examination revealed that the victim had over 34 wounds on her body, approximately 20 of which were stab wounds. According to the police, her skull was fractured when she was struck by the concrete slab.

Earlier this week, Sahil was produced before a court and he was sent to police custody for two days. The police have been questioning Sahil and the minor's family as part of their investigation to determine the chronological order of events that led to the altercation and subsequent murder. For the past few weeks, the girl had been staying at a friend's house. On Sunday, she was stabbed multiple times and then fatally beaten on a crowded street in Delhi's Shahbad Dairy neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, no bystanders or residents intervened or offered assistance. The brutal assault was captured on CCTV, and the footage quickly spread across social media platforms.
