New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Centre over the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha from the Rajya Sabha amid claims of forged signatures in a proposed select committee for the examination of the Delhi Services Bill, the party on Friday said there was no mention of the words “forgery or fake, signatures” in the notice served by the Privileges Committee.

“Nowhere has Piyush Goyal's motion for suspension or notice served by Privileges Committee mentions the words - forgery or fake, signatures, farziwada. It doesn't even remotely allege anything to this effect,” the AAP said.

“Therefore, since there has been no mention of any forgery or fake signature, the media is requested to abstain from using the same else we will be constrained to take legal action as per law,” the party said in a statement.

Addressing a press conference, the AAP MP said, “The main objective of the BJP is to repeat a lie a thousand times until it becomes the truth. Based on this moto, the party has started a propaganda against me. As per the rule book on the proceedings in the House, no signature or consent of the members is required to propose their names for a select committee. If there was no signature taken, then this entire allegation of forgery is completely baseless.”

It is to be noted that Raghav Chadha was suspended following a motion moved by the Leader of House Piyush Goyal, who sought action against the AAP leader, for including the names of some members of the Rajya Sabha without their consent in a proposed select committee for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
