Delhi police on Wednesday raided over 20 locations across Delhi and Haryana of gangsters and their associates sitting abroad. The police recovered cash, weapons and other illegal materials in the early morning raid at the hideouts of the members of a criminal gang, reported ANI citing police. The searches are being conducted by Dwarka District Police in Delhi and Haryana’s Sonipat and Jhajjar.
The police detained 20 people and arrested 6 others for various offences under the Arms Act and NDPS Act based on the recovery during the raids and searches. DCP Dwarka M Harshawardhan said, "1 bulletproof car, 3 pistols with 7 rounds, 22.4 gms heroin, 73 gms Amphetamine, and Rs 20 lakhs were recovered during the raid."
Harshvardhan further said, "21 teams from Dwarka district comprising around 300 policemen conducted raids in Haryana and Delhi. This raid was conducted on a criminal gang and its associate. A total of 6 people have been arrested in this. A bulletproof car, Rs 20 lakh cash, 3 arms with 7 rounds and drugs were recovered during the raid."
The news agency ANI first reported citing Delhi police sources, “Dwarka District Police is conducting early morning raids and searches at over 20 locations in Delhi and Haryana over persons connected to a criminal gang. Weapons, cash and illegal substances have been recovered from various places and some people have been detained. Further details awaited.”
Later, DCP Dwarka M Harshawardhan, in an official statement, told ANI, “Dwarka Police has raided the hideouts of gangsters and their associates sitting abroad. Raids have been conducted at some locations in Delhi including Sonipat and Jhajjar.”
“About 20 lakhs have been recovered from a place from Delhi, apart from this weapons have been recovered from Jhajjar and other places in Haryana. Search operation is underway. Delhi Police is collecting details of recoveries from other states,” Harshawardhan further said.

This comes after in a fresh crackdown against the cadres of the banned organisation Popular Front of India (PFI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on April 25 carried out searches at around 17 locations across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab among other states. As per ANI, the investigating agency is raiding two locations in Uttar Pradesh, 12 in Bihar and one each in Punjab's Ludhiana and Goa.
This followed the April 8 arrest of three leaders of PFI and Campus Front of India (CFI) by Assam Police from the state's Barpeta district. Police also recovered cash of Rs 1.50 lakh, four mobile phones, and a pamphlet of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in their possession.
The arrested PFI and CFI leaders were identified as Jakir Hussain, he is also the State Secretary of PFI, Abu Sama, and CFI National Treasurer Sahidul Islam, Hiren Nath, Additional director general of police (ADGP) (SB), Assam police informed, as per news agency ANI.
In March, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act Tribunal (UAPA Tribunal), presided by Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma of the Delhi High Court, upheld the Union government's decision to impose a five-year ban on PFI and its affiliate organisations, news agency IANS reported.
