One of the main conspirators who was involved in the murder of Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal during the 2020 North East Delhi Riots was arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell on Wednesday. Mohd. Ayaz had been absconding for the past three years and was declared a proclaimed offender in this case. He also had a bounty of Rs 1,00,000 on his head. The police was looking for him constantly and arrested him near Bengaluru. Ratan Lal was one among many police officers who lost their lives during the aftermath of CAA+NRC protests. 


Despite a bounty of Rs 1 lakh being on his head, he was still able to dodge the police for over three years. Delhi Police had even decalred him a fugitive upon not being found for so long.


How Did The Constable Die?


Following CAA+NRC protests, riots broke out in Delhi especially the North-East Delhi. DCP and ACP of Delhi Police reached Chand Bagh area where suddenly a mob started attacking them. Head Constable Ratan Lal got severely injured when he tried to save his officers from this attack. He later succumbed to his injuries. 


The accused in his murder were identified by the police and after that a series of arrests started. All the accused were identified by analysing the videos which were taken during the riots.

Woman Arrested From Call Centre


Delhi Police had earlier arrested another accused in the murder of Ratan Lal. She was arrested from a call centre in Noida. Prior to her arrest, Police had declared her as a fugitive as well. She had a bountry reward of Rs 50,000 on her. She was a resident of Bhajanpura and was arrested last year only.
