New Delhi: Ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, the Delhi Congress today announced that it will provide free Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifiers to every household if voted to power. Congress has accused the Delhi government of supplying dirty water in the city which is forcing the residents to buy expensive bottled water. It also said that residents are falling sick because of the supply of dirty water in the city.

On Wednesday, Delhi Congress promised to waive off dues of private residential buildings if it gets elected. Launching a campaign, "House Tax- Pichhla Maaf, Agla half", the party's Delhi chief Anil Chaudhary said his party will also reduce the property tax by 50 per cent.

"It is unfortunate that the BJP looted and threatened the citizens in the name of house tax in Delhi. We will waive off dues of private residential buildings within a month and ensure no house pays more than half the present property tax," he said.

Chaudhary said the Delhi Congress will constitute a municipal valuation committee, which will re-categorise colonies under the MCD, and unit area rates will be fixed based on category of roads where the properties are located.

Meanwhile, the BJP has planned to hold a massive campaign on November 27 ahead of the election. More than one lakh BJP activists are expected to reach out to more than one crore voters in the national capital throughout the campaign.

The state election commission has announced the election schedule for the 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The election is scheduled to be held on December 4 and the results will be declared on December 7.
