A man died allegedly after he jumped in front of a metro train in Noida on Friday. A police official, while talking to news agency PTI, said that the incident took place at Sector 52 station on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's corridor. The official said that the incident was reported in the morning after which officials of the local Sector 49 police station rushed to the spot. He further added that the deceased appeared to be 35 years old and efforts are being made to ascertain his identity.


Legal proceedings into the matter have been initiated and the body has been sent for post-mortem.


Earlier in February, a "mentally ill" man allegedly died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at the Mayur Vihar-1 metro station on the Blue Line in east Delhi. The deceased was identified as Ajay Laxman Pakhale, a former senior manager at Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). A 'brief delay' was observed in metro services following this incident due to which other trains on the corridor also got affected.

A passenger of that train while talking to PTI said, "I boarded the train at around 1.50 pm from Noida Sector 18 station for Rajiv Chowk station, but it got stuck at the next station at Noida Sector 16. After a few minutes, it was announced that the train would not move further. All passengers deboarded the train and it returned towards Noida. No train came for the next 20-25 minutes."


In another incident, a man died by suicide on January 18 by jumping in front of a metro train at Mandi House Metro Station in Central Delhi. After a delay of about half an hour, Metro services have been resumed on the Violet Line.
