Security has been tightened in the national capital ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with Delhi Police saying it has planned adequate, robust and failproof arrangements. Delhi Special CP Deependra Pathak took a stock of the security arrangements around Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make his speech on India's 77th Independence day.

"Like every year, this year too, the Delhi Police is very professional in its approach. Delhi Police has planned adequate, robust and failproof security arrangements," ANI quoted Pathak as saying.

DCP North Sagar Singh Kalsi said, "PM Modi will hoist the National Flag here (Red Fort)...We are very proud of this...It becomes our responsibility to ensure that the security asrrangements are absolutely strict."

Kalsi said CCTV footages were being monitored around the clock and awareness campaigns were also conducted. "First is on the day when all the areas and CCTV footage is scanned thoroughly to ensure that no suspicous activites are unseen. The other is awareness campaigns that we conducted over the past 2-3 months that helps us understand if there have been any sort of suspicious activities," he further said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has found several flaws in the security arrangements in around 100 places in Delhi. Delhi Police's Special Cell audited these places between July 27 and 29, ANI reported.

In an order, Deputy Commisioner of Police, HQ &TYR, Special cell, Delhi, said, "During checking dated 27 July to 29 July, several shortcomings have been noticed in various Hotels, Guest Houses, busy markets, taxi stands, parking lots, cyber cafes, PG accommodations, Cinema Halls, Malls etc."

The Deputy Commissioner further asked police officials to brief the people and rectify these flaws in the security.
