The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that metro train services in the national capital will start at 5 a.m. on August 15 to facilitate people going to attend the Independence Day ceremony. It also said that the trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all lines until 6 a.m.
"To facilitate passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony on 15th August 2023 (Tuesday), Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 5 AM from all terminal stations. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 6 AM," DMRC said in a tweet.
However, after 6 a.m., trains will run as per the normal timetable. DMRC also stated that, in view of security measures adopted on the occasion, parking facilities will Not Be Available at stations from 6 a.m. on August 14 until 2 p.m. on August 15.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the national capital for the full dress rehearsal on August 13.As per the advisory, the area around Red Fort will remain closed for general traffic from 4 a.m. to 11 am on August 13, and only labelled vehicles will be permitted on these roads.
The Delhi Traffic Police, in its advisory, also stated that those vehicles that do not have a parking label for the rehearsal may avoid C-Hexagon, India Gate, Copernic Marg, Mandi House, Sikanda Road, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Neta Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg, and the Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate.
