A hit-and-run accident in Delhi left one dead and another injured on Saturday night. According to police officials, the accident occurred when an SUV allegedly crashed into a bike carrying Deepanshu Verma (30) and his cousin Mukul Verma (20).


Deepanshu was flung into the air and landed on the car on its roof and bonnet area due to the impact of the collision, while Mukul fell on the road. The driver of the SUV did not stop and drove with Deepanshu on the bonnet for about half a kilometre before dropping him on the road and driving off, police told PTI.


Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital where Deepanshu was declared dead upon arrival, while Mukul was admitted for treatment.


The accused driver was arrested on Sunday and the vehicle involved in the accident was seized, police informed. The driver faces charges of causing death by negligence and hit-and-run, according to police officials.


Delhi Man Drives Car For Several Kilometers As A Man Hangs On Bonnet


Earlier on Sunday, a car coming from Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin Dargah drove for around 2-3 kilometres with a person hanging on the bonnet. The accused who was driving the car has been identified as Ramchand Kumar and the victim has been identified as Chetan, as reported by the news agency ANI.


Speaking about the incident the victim Chetan, who is a driver, said that he was returning after leaving a passenger. Further informing about the incident, he said that a car touched his car three times when he reached Ashram after which he came out of his car and stood in front of the accused’s vehicle.
