New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday said the party respects the Supreme Court ruling that gave the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government legislative and executive powers over the administration of services, and said that a transfer-posting industry will come up in the city. “Arvind Kejriwal has got what he was desperate for. He said he will transfer officials in large numbers, this means he will now make transfer posting an industry,” news agency PTI quoted Sachdeva as saying.

Taking a dig at the Delhi CM, the BJP leader said officers in the Delhi government will now be given postings not on their capabilities but on how obedient they are to the chief minister.

Sachdeva also said that officers in the Delhi government will now be forced to do the bidding of AAP and this is why the ruling party in Delhi hailed the Supreme Court verdict as its victory.

"I fear there could be incidents of misbehaviour with officers and they will be pressured as the power will be in the hands of the government," the BJP leader said, adding, "Earlier also they had the power, but the government was involved in corruption."

Sachdeva said despite the top court verdict, the BJP will continue to fight for the interests of the people of Delhi and expose corruption, if any.

It is to be noted that the Supreme Court in a unanimous verdict ruled that the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over administration of services except for public order, police and land.

Addressing the media, Kejriwal said his hands were tied but the AAP government still carried out good work in Delhi. "Today's Supreme Court order is historic in many ways. It is a big victory for the people of Delhi against whom there has been injustice. The honourable Supreme Court has done justice to them," he said.
