Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed condolence on the death of seven infants after they were charred to death in a massive fire that erupted at a baby care centre in the national capital. As many as seven babies died afetr the fire broke out at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar at 11:30 pm on Saturday.
Taking to his X handle, PM Modi said that the fire tragedy was "heart-rending". "My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this incredibly difficult time. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest," he added.
President Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief over the deaths of the infants and wished speedy recovery to the injured babies.
"The news of the death of many children due to a fire in a hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi is heart-rending. May God give strength to the bereaved parents and relatives to bear this shock. I pray for the speedy recovery of other children injured in this incident," said the President in a social media post.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the cause of the incident is being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena instructed the Chief Secretary to constitute an inquiry into the incident.

Oppn Attacks Kejriwal Dispensation
Bharatiya Janta Party MP Manoj Tiwari targeted Kejriwal over the incident saying, "Delhi is in a lot of pain, in a lot of trouble. Arvind Kejriwal has made Delhi a mountain of pain and tears.... "
Asking who was responsible for the incident, the BJP MP said that no steps are taken for prevention. "Investigation reports do not come. The government is asleep..."
