A large plume of smoke engulfed shops in the DDA market in Delhi's Vikaspuri area where a fire broke out on Saturday morning. Officials said that the blaze was contained. Eighteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot when the incident was reported. The fire broke out in the H-block of the DDA market.


No casualties have been reported so far.






A call regarding a fire incident was received at around 5.50 am, following which 18 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, they said.


The fire was in a supermarket on the ground, first and second floors of a building, they said, adding it was doused around 10 am.


Truck carrying LPG cylinders catches fire in Kolkata


A truck carrying LPG cylinders of an oil marketing PSU caught fire in south Kolkata on Saturday, a fire department official said. There was no report of any injury in the incident.


The truck was passing through Patuli area when it caught fire suddenly, he said.


One fire engine was pressed into service and water was sprayed to douse the flames. The fire brigade personnel took out the cylinders from the back of the truck as only its front portion had caught fire, the official added.


Fire at Burrabazar godown In Kolkata


A fire broke out at a clothing material godown in Kalakar Street in Kolkata's trading hub of Burrabazar on Friday evening, an official said. No one was reported to be injured in the incident, she said.


Four fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control at the mezzanine floor godown, the fire brigade official said.


The blaze, which was reported at 8.40 pm, was brought under control after a firefight that lasted an hour, she said. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, she added.
