A massive blaze gutted several shops at Block C Market in Vasant Vihar, Delhi, on Saturday morning. After receiving the alert about the blaze, multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot. According to PTI, the call about the blaze was received at 5 AM and 10 fire tenders were pressed into service, according to an official of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). It was brought under control within an hour.


No casualty or injury was reported.


Thick black smoke could be seen billowing out from the region. A short circuit could have started the fire but an investigation will reveal the actual reason, according to PTI. 






The fire started on the ground floor of a building and then spread to its mezzanine and first floors, the Delhi Fire Services official said.


The prompt response from the fire department brought the fire under control.

Chandni Chowk Fire


This incident follows just days after a fire broke out at the Marwadi Katra market area in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. In order to douse the flames, around 40 fire tenders were rushed to the site. No casualty was reported. 


DFS chief Atul Garg told news agency PTI that initially 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. However, later 16 more tenders were pressed into service as the fire was massive. Later, Senior Officer, Fire Department, Sanjay Tomar said that more than 40 fire tenders were present at the spot. He also stated that the main building where the fire broke out had collapsed.


According to the Delhi Police, the fire resulted in the devastation of almost 110-120 shops in the Nai Sarak market in Chandni Chowk.
