A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced a man to serve a lifetime for abducting, raping, and killing a six-year-old girl in 2015, news agency PTI reported. As per the accusations, he was involved in the abduction and killing of more than 30 children from the years 2008 to 2015, India Today reported.

He admitted to carrying out offenses in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh from 2008 to 2015. Additionally, there were instances of engaging in sexual activity with deceased individuals. Following a span of six years of perpetrating severe offenses and undergoing an eight-year judicial process, he was found guilty by a court in Delhi on Saturday.

The court observed that the offender had indulged in a calculated act of sexual assault and homicide. The court stated that the severity and brutality of the act committed was so reprehensible and lacking in human decency that mercy or pity towards the convict was unwarranted, PTI reported.

On May 6, Ravinder was found guilty of committing acts that violated Section 6 of the POCSO Act, which pertains to aggravated penetrative sexual assault, as well as several IPC sections, including 376 A (which pertains to causing the death or permanent vegetative state of the victim) and 302 (which is associated with murder).

“The offence does not fall in the rarest of the rare category… but the act of the convict is so gruesome and inhumane that he does not deserve any leniency or sympathy from the court,” Assistant Sessions Judge Sunil Kumar was quoted by PTI in its report.

What Is The Case?

In Delhi, Ravinder was employed as a labourer. He indulged in drugs, watched explicit films and actively sought out children to prey on before murdering them. At the young age of 18, he established a disturbing pattern in 2008. For the subsequent seven-year period, extending till 2015, he committed the murder of more than 30 children, India Today reported.

Ravinder ventured to Delhi in 2008 from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh with the intention of finding employment. His dad was employed as a plumbing professional and his mom worked as a house cleaner.

After arriving in Delhi, Ravinder quickly developed a drug addiction and became exposed to a pornographic video on a cassette, which he subsequently engaged in viewing. As per the authorities, Ravinder would spend his entire day engaged in physical labor and then indulge in intoxication during the evening hours. Between the hours of 8 pm and midnight, he would rest in his humble abode located in a low-income neighborhood, only to awaken and initiate his quest for children.

Ravinder frequently covered distances of up to 40 kilometers in his search for targets, often traversing construction areas and slums. He would attract youngsters by offering them 10-rupee bills and sweets and escort them to a secluded location. The age of the victims ranged from six to twelve years old, with the youngest being six and the oldest being twelve.
