Following a series of bomb threats targetting in Delhi-NCR, Delhi Governor VK Saxena assured that the “culprits won’t be spared”. Indicating a “weird connection” between the threats and an X post by a BJP spokesperson, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the development comes just a day after the saffron party’s spokesperson mentioned a “bomb threat” in his post. However, the Delhi Police said nothing had been found in these schools, and the whole episode appeared to be a hoax.
Culprits Won't Be Spared: Delhi LG
“Spoke to the Police Commissioner and sought a detailed report into the bomb threats at schools in Delhi-NCR. Directed Delhi Police to carry out a thorough search in school premises, identify the culprits & ensure there are no lapses,” LG Saxena said in an X post.
“I request the parents not to panic and co-operate with the administration in ensuring safety of schools and the children. The miscreants & culprits will not be spared,” he added.
He told reporters, "Delhi police reached very quickly and the entire area has been cordoned off and search operations are going on. Dog squads, and bomb disposal units are also working. I want to assure the people of Delhi that Delhi Police is fully prepared and we will try to prevent any untoward incident from happening."
"Delhi Police has found out from where these emails are coming, investigation is underway. All I would like to say is that the culprits will not be spared and will be given strict punishment," he said.
Delhi Minister Highlights 'Weird Connection'
Bharadwaj pointed out the timing of the threats, referencing a BJP spokesperson’s tweet from the previous day. “It is coincidental that yesterday, a spokesperson of BJP tweeted that 'do not touch unattended articles. It can be a bomb. Vote for Congress to see such advertisements on TV.' Today, several Delhi schools have received a mail warning of bombs. Although these are obviously hoax emails, this is a weird coincidence and an investigation should be done,” he told ANI.
Nothing 'Objectionable' Found, Calls Turn Out To Be Hoax: Authorities
Delhi Police have urged citizens to maintain peace as it said that the email threats turned out to be hoaxes. Nothing "objectionable" has been found so far in searches. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) also said the same.
Responding to the threats, Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Services, told ANI, “We received calls about bomb threats in schools. We immediately sent fire tenders and fire tenders have started returning from some schools because nothing has been found and I think all the calls will turn out to be hoaxes.”
Devesh Kumar Mahla, DCP of New Delhi, reassured the public, saying, “As a precautionary measure and based on the information, we have checked all the schools and nothing has been found. We appeal to everyone that there is no need to panic”.
At least 80 schools across Delhi-NCR received bomb threats via e-mail, sources told ABP News. Initially, the bomb threats were reported from Mother Marry School at Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School at Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapui, Delhi Public School at Vasant Kunj, Amity School in Saket, and Delhi Public School in Noida Sector 30, leading to evacuations and heightened security measures.
Security agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, are investigating the whole incident. According to a PTI report, the officials are speculating the angle that there can be a single perpetrator behind the incidents.
