When a 30-year-old pregnant woman complained to her neighbour about loud music being played by a DJ at a party at his house in Siraspur, northwest Delhi, on Monday, the neighbour fired at her, causing the woman to miscarry, according to police, news agency PTI reported.

They said that both Harish, who shot the expecting mother, and his companion Amit, whose pistol was used in the murder, had been taken into custody.

The woman's condition is described as critical.

A senior police official said that at about 12:15 in the morning, a PCR call was made alleging a shooting incident in Siraspur.

When they arrived, they discovered that a woman, Ranju, a native of Siraspur, had been taken to Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Ravi Kumar Singh, doctors at the hospital told police she had a gunshot wound in her neck and was unsuitable to give a statement.

Harish then seized a pistol from his pal Amit and began fire. According to the eyewitness, Ranju was struck by a gunshot.

Harish and Amit were apprehended. The police have filed a complaint against them under sections 307 (attempt to kill) and 34 (common purpose) of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC), as well as section 27 of the Weapons Act.

They stated Harish works as a delivery guy and Amit works at a mobile repair business and is pregnant.
