Delhi Police Registers Case Over Pro-Khalistani Graffiti On Walls Of Kashmiri Gate Flyover
Delhi Police registered a case under IPC after pro-Khalistan graffiti was found on the walls at Kashmiri Gate flyover.
Police in the national capital have registered a case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code after pro-Khalistani graffiti was painted over the walls at Kashmiri Gate flyover on Wednesday night. The graffiti was later removed and the case was registered, reported ANI. The incident comes amid a diplomatic row between Canada and India over the killing of Khalistani sympathiser Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudea recently blamed India for Nijjar’s killing on Canadian soil.
However, incidents of public buildings being defaced with pro-Khalistan slogans had been taking place before the row erupted.
In August this year, ahead of the G20 Summit, anti-India slogans were seen written on some of the metro stations in Delhi. More the five metro stations in the national capital were defaced with anti-India slogans, believed to have been done by pro-Khalistan proscribed outfit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
Delhi Police has registered a case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code in the incident where pro-Khalistani graffiti was written on walls under the Kashmiri Gate flyover on 27th September.

“Modi India committed genocide of Sikhs”, “Delhi Bannyga Khalistan” (Delhi will become Khalistan), and “Khalistan Referendum Zindabad” were some of the slogans that appeared on the metro stations in the city.
An FIR was registered in connection with the matter and the slogans were later removed.
In June this year, similar slogans were seen written on the walls of a Session Judge's residence in Punjab's Faridkot. A video was pointed out by Superintendent of Police Avneet Kaur Sidhu pertaining to the matter released by SFJ general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

On May 8, ‘Khalistan’ flags were found tied on the main gate of Himachal Pradesh Assembly complex and Pannun was booked as the main accused in the case. An FIR was registered against him sections 153-A and 153-B of Indian Penal Code, section 3 of HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985, and section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) at Dharamshala Police station
In January, the Delhi police had removed certain “anti-national” and “Khalistan-related” graffiti painted on a wall in the Paschim Vihar area of the city ahead of Republic Day celebrations. The wall was painted with slogans like “Khalistan Zindabad” and “Referendum 2020”, officials said.
